Generator Hookups in Bellevue: what's different here
Somerset, Lake Hills and Crossroads have a lot of 1970s-era panels, and some of those homes still have aluminum branch wiring. Wind storms knock out power in older, tree-lined Bellevue neighborhoods like Somerset. We install standby generators and portable-generator interlocks so you can run power safely.
Permits and inspections
A transfer switch or generator inlet is permitted electrical work. Bellevue runs its own electrical permit and inspection program, so permits for this work go through the City of Bellevue rather than Washington L&I (L&I list of cities). We pull the permit and meet the inspector.
Utilities
Electric service in Bellevue is provided by PSE. For panel, meter and service work we schedule the disconnect and reconnect with the utility for you.

Who issues the permit for generator hookups in Bellevue?
Bellevue runs its own electrical permit and inspection program, so permits for this work go through the City of Bellevue rather than Washington L&I. For generator hookups, we apply for the permit, book the inspection, meet the inspector on site, and give you the final sign-off for your records.
Can I plug a portable generator into my Bellevue home?
Only through a transfer switch or interlock. Backfeeding through an outlet can injure PSE line workers. We install inlets and interlocks with a permit from the City of Bellevue.
